German citizen here. Understand, that this guy (I can not use any other words, otherwise I risk to get a visit from the police at 05:00 in the morning), is extremly unpopular. So unpopular, that he had to gave in and we will have early voting on 23.02.2025.
He has a 0% chance to become Kanzler again. He already confirmed, that he is not interested in beeing Vize-Kanzler, So he is gone.
Everyone who will come after him (CDU, Grüne) is in big favor of 1) increasing the defense spendings by a lot and 2) increase the military help for ukraine. Everything is possible after our Olaf is gone.
In Germany we call these kinds of people Verräter
