Most properly ‘rich’ Irish people are not ordinarily domiciled in Ireland for Tax purposes, so this is artificially low. Our civil service and lack of 401ks make comparisons irrelevant – e.g. the cost of buying a garda’s pension on the open market would amount to ***€1.1m***

I’m only $4.3m short, so close

And shockingly a lot of Garda/civil Servants have pension pots in excess of €2million bringing them 1/2 way there.

Saudi Arabia and UAE are BS.
You need at least a billion to be in the top 1%.

I’m not sure the other 1%-ers in Saudi Arabia would be happy with me trying to join the club with only 740k.

Ours like many are skewed in my view because of house prices. Having all the wealth locked up into a house doesn’t exactly make you rich .. it is not liquid wealth … it could be but then .. where do they live etc etc

Alexa! Do I need a visa to move to Kenya.

It would be interesting to have an average wealth to compare this with. Does the top 1% have 10 times the average wealth or 1000? That would give an indication of how equal a society is.

This seems pretty low when you consider that wealth includes property

I’m imagining my Lavish lifestyle in Kenya now.
Driving around in my Fiat duplo eating toasted cheese sandwiches, while watching the latest show on the etch-a-sketch.
Maybe going for a game of pitch and put with me mates.

Seems dubious. You need $1.6m to be in top 1% in UAE?

I do think something’s really wrong with wealth distribution in ireland. For one of the top countries in GDP per capita the amount of money going back to the people seems extremely low

I’d still be considered dirt poor in Kenya!

2 people who own their house and have built up decent pensions over 40 years could hit this number.
Public sector pensions, when they were insane, were worth huge amounts for people even for people who’d been middle managers back in the day. There are still some of these in place for older workers

Not as high as I would have thought to be honest
Not for long. Soon everyone who have to move to Australia or something and then they will be the 100%
Pffft. The 1 percenters.
Everyone knows the **0.1**% club is where all the real fun is. Coke & Hookers for everyone!
Is this good or bad? Genuinely
Website says they use GDP in the calculation so might not be very accurate for us:

No chance to get a non dollar equivalent?
