You have way too much free time. Read a book or go for a walk.

Can anyone explain how would this work, cosindering it is already part of Denmark?

the right of peoples to self-determination is a moral imperative. if the a future independent Greenland was threatened with subjugation, we as Europeans must support them however we can.

I thought Greenland was in North America. Why would it be in the EU?

    5. Thunderbird_Anthares on

      Hell yes.

Its in the treaty, we all signed it, the moment we’d even attempt to ignore it, it loses all meaning and our enemies lose all respect for it and what it means.

We cant AFFORD to ignore it.

Greenland should finally be completely independent from Denmark, and then decide for itself who it wants to have as an ally. It’s ridiculous that in 2025 it is still connected to Europe, although not entirely of its own free will.

I’m curious if you asked on an American sub if they would go fight in a frozen tundra against a former ally for the imperialism of their god king. How many would say yes.

I would rather die for Greenland than for Ukraine. Way cooler.

Don’t we have more important territories to protect? Like our borders close to Russia and Turkey and in the Mediterranean. Or do they have a lot of oil worth fighting for?

Of course everyone here is in favor of defending Greenland, like they are in favor of defending Ukraine – to the last Ukrainian…erm I mean Greenlander!

Fighting wars against military superpowers in the cold? Not my favorite thing to do. Collectively short selling US stocks? More likely my warfare.

Yeah, I’m sure a bunch of keyboard warriors will do great on the front lines…

If the USA attacks Greenland it is already a wat and we should are defend them. Even the not EU countrys, like Norway.

you mean to die for some stupid lines on a map?

I’ll just take a moment to appreciate how nicely designed that infographics is.

Greenland an island and the US Navy is stronger than all rest of the planet’s Navies put together..

Anyway since Ireland is thankfully neutral, the answer is no.

No, I would not support defending Greenland if it means outright war involving Romanian troops. Sending troops to an icy rock that has very little useful land or people on it seems foolish. I would support giving Denmark military equipment if they wanted to send their own troops, though.

And regarding the requirements imposed by the EU, idk what to make of them. They mention something along the lines of “helping to the extent of their full power” and the lines about defending territory could be interpreted to mean “EU territory”, which Greenland is not a part of. If anything I’d say this is how it’s meant to be interpreted considering NATO goes by the same rules of continental Europe and I haven’t seen any kind of movement when conflicts in Europe owned islands arose.

What i don’t understand. Everyone knows what’s the best for the Greenland people. Let the people decide…

      All against articles
, posts , etc don’t include anything about the Greenland people, it’s always “Denmark will not like it, it’s our partner”.

What many people don’t know, for many Greenland’s it’s the worst to belong to Denmark. For them it’s like Poland will be part of Russia.
But i also don’t know what they want… so let them do a poll and than the people have spoken.

If the US don’t listen to the poll – ok than we need to stay united behind the people of Greenland because that was their decision to stay @denmark.

We live in such a fucked up world when the US (our supposed ally) is an enemy…

    20. As a European: Yes, of course. I’m also in favour of them becoming independent and joining the EU.

    21. No_Walrus_8838 on

I don’t want Greenland in the European Union. Let them be free and sovereign!

I also don’t want Greenland to be absorbed by the USA.

Can’t Greenland be independent from both the USA **and** the EU?

    22. Icy-Ad3030 on

Greenland? My guy can’t even defend Ukraine. An underfunded Europe, failing to meet the mandatory GDP defense spending, will defend Greenland?

    23. Yes, I do support it. I’ll die for my home and freedom over living beneath an orange criminal.
