Are they going to limit the amount of drinks sold on flights?
Simply hand any potential patron a slip of paper and a pen, and ask them to tick one of two boxes.
“I’m a cunt after a few drinks”
Or
“I’m dead sound with beer in me”
Oddly no mention of Ryanair stopping the sale of alcohol on their flights.
“However, during flight delays, passengers are consuming excess alcohol at airports without any limit on purchase or consumption,” he said.
The solution seems to be don’t have flight delays..
Breathalyser to buy.
No mention of a 2 drink minimum on the flight. Or increased Check in/Gate agents to screen for drunk passengers.
I have no doubt that were the airports to introduce the use of limits on alcohol sales to passengers, that this same data would be used by Ryanair on the flight to identify those that have had their two-drink quota already.

Surely a freemarket fundamentalist like MOL would realise that the way prices are going, especially at airports, that the market will take care of this.
Limit the airport selling booze so they can sell you more on board
Ryanair can piss off, we’re not at their beck and call, every time i hear about them it’s them sticking their noses in someone else’s business, quite literally in this case

In that role you could well imagine him discovering that alcohol related issues cost the health services €1.5 billion a year (or whatever) and calling for a 2 drink limit in pubs.
I flew to ibiza and they had a 1 drink per customer rule on the flight. Pissed me right off.
Company that famously markets itself towards people who go on boozy holidays, annoyed that it attracts pissed passengers.
This is completely impossible to implement. Do all the bars give customers a fucking tattoo after each pint?
Maybe if ryanair paid their staff more, they’d be more willing to stand up to drunk idiots at the gate.

There’s nothing worse than being stuck on a flight beside somebody who is already pissed or getting pissed. I just have no tolerance for it. Maybe I’m just old, but I find it drunk people on flights really annoying and obnoxious.

Has all personal responsibility gone out the window?! Like I don’t get drunk at an airport or whatever, but at the same time – I dont want to be told what or how much I can drink especially if I’m going off with my family on holiday that I’ve just spent a fair few quid to do. Act the bollox on a flight / airport; get arrested and immediately fined €X (which should be enforceable via whatever statutory mechanisms, and paid to injured party). Have a phasing of the incidents – 1. Disruptive 2. Assault 3.Flight Diversion etc.

Anytime I came across unruly passengers who affected other people’s experience or proper flight operations (a few times), the trigger for their behaviour was excess drinking on board the plane which I witnessed myself.
This is not to say those people didn’t drink before boarding the plane, but the drink(s) pushing them too far was always consumed on board.
This is because an airline obviously won’t allow boarding for a passenger who is already behaving in a problematic way, and rightly so.
This weakens Ryanair’s argument significantly: they are saying they want to restrict consumption to 2 drinks at the airport but the policy they say they enforce on board their planes is to serve as many drinks as possible until the passenger becomes too “unruly” (ie they only stop serving once negative consequences have already become visible).
What issue is this solving here besides reducing alcohol sales at the airport and increasing it on board for Ryanair?
Can he not breathalyse any suspect people before they board? If pubs can refuse service, surely an airline can. Although I probably shouldn’t be giving him ideas. He’ll charge you for the privilege.
Remember coming home from majorca on TUI a few years back. We were still in Spanish airspace and a row occurred between passengers who incidentally were drunk. Capt came on the intercom and said we’re diverting to Madrid and the airport police would be there. Offending passengers were removed and the plane refuelled and we took off. If passengers are so drunk and anti social they shouldn’t be allowed on board. Alcohol needs to be banned on planes and a limitation in airports. Diverting and refueling a passenger jet in Spain costs around €15,000–€50,000 for a medium-sized aircraft like a Boeing 737 or Airbus A320. This includes landing fees (€500–€5,000), fuel costs (€7,000–€24,000), and handling charges (€1,000–€5,000). Larger aircraft can cost over €100,000, depending on fuel needs and services required. and diverting even more so.
Disruptive passengers causing a flight diversion can be charged €10,000–€50,000+ by airlines for fuel, landing fees, and delays. Legal fines can add up to €5,000 (UK/Ireland) plus potential jail time. Example: Ryanair once charged a passenger €30,000 for such behavior.
I understand people wanting to start their holiday and get into the holiday mood but it’s not in a passenger jet. Alcohol affects us all differently but seriously people need to cop on and leave the holiday to when they actually get there and not inconvenience other passengers
Ryanair again tries to grab headlines to bury the stories about them being fined millions of euro by the Spanish government for outright scamming their passengers.
I’ve only encountered drunk passages on Ryanair flights, even got live footage of them abusing a stewardess on the way to Malaga. Maybe it’s just a Ryanair thing.
I got off of a Ryanair flight less than two hours ago, UK airport to the Canaries. A group of 6 people utterly off their heads on combination of booze and who knows what else. They were utterly disruptive at the boarding gate, but no action taken.
So excuse my doubts as to the reasons for this.
Do we need a bar in airports or drinks available on planes?
How about we just outright ban problem passengers. Set up a registry where Airlines can get prior to warning that “Two Mat Murphy” is flying and have his boarding card flagged so he can’t purchase alcohol. Maybe ban whole families if need be.
You need more than 2 drinks for those focking landings. Perhaps don’t fall from the sky

Ryanair are being illogical with this. Such rules can’t be policed. I mean, it’s easy go from one bar to the next and have another couple of drinks. It’s also possible to arrive at the airport buckled.
I guess this is a load of noise from them after one too many disruptive passengers – they conveniently forget that they reserve the right of admission/boarding on to their flights in the first place, so why can’t they just exercise this a bit better rather than finding fault with everyone and everything else instead?
And while they attempt to restrict everyone’s drinking freedom before boarding their flights, I don’t hear them saying about what they’re doing about the alcohol that they sell on their flights and make money from. Fuck all credibility!
