Yes, you have to pay for it.
The certificate is for YOU, not your employer. You keep it whenever you switch jobs, that’s why any one employer won’t pay it.
This is the SOP for all hospo workers.
I once did it, paid myself, got a receipt and they paid me back instantly.
You need this to work in a restaurant and it is your Schein, once for life. The company does not have to pay.
If your company won’t pay for it, you can get a partial refund via tax statement later.
Companies don‘t have to pay for it, though many will. But at the end of the day we‘re talking 26€ here, and you keep it for life. Does it really matter at the end if the rest of the work environment is good?
I‘d take it as a first warning there might be problems to come, but wouldn‘t make a big thing out of it.
