      If you or your device have access to any kind of sensitive data eg. Commercial, Personal, Legal etc. Be super-careful about installing the TikTok app or its clone.

      People aren’t taking this issue seriously enough.

      According to Apple, the TikTok app downloads third-party executable code from unverified and unauthorized sources and runs it on your device surreptitiously. La la stuff.

      On their Chinese made work phones. This whole idea is so idiotic. Even if was real, I’d prefer Xi to have the data than trump.

      The TikTok app is Spyware essentially, with a video recognition algorithm sprinkled over the top as a hook. It goes way beyond Facebook et. al.

      It goes way beyond monitoring which cat videos you’re watching during work also. Lol.

      One, you might as well just use YouTube instead of killing your brain cells.

      Two, it is a security nightmare, for Chinese devs wouldn’t have security even remotely as a priority.

      Work devices should contain nothing but work related apps. This should be obvious.

      Pretty much every app steals your data indirectly via their advertising plugins. See the recent Gravy Analytics hack. Uninstalling TikTok won’t do a whole lot if you’ve still got other third party apps.

      Lots of American Red scare propaganda being parroted in this thread. Like any other app, your data can be in bother if you misuse tiktok, but that’s no different from having the instagram or done deal app installed on your device.

      I also agree with another user on this thread – unless you’re specifically involved in marketing / media, none of this should be on a work device anyways.
