If you haven’t seen it, the Navalny/Bellingcat documentary is a must see. It shows his Novichok poisoning and the subsequent investigation to find who did it. The documentary follows him through to his return to Russia after his recovery and – of course – his arrest. Very insightful piece into Russian mindsets about opposition to Putin.

What courage. His bravery is an example to all of us what amazing things we are capable of as social creatures. There was absolutely no benefit to him in going back, yet he did.

They will remember him in public squares named after him long after Putin’s gang is wiped out.

    3. For such a smart guy to do such a stupid thing (return to the same place where the government tried to kill him) … Feels very disappointing.

I do not pretend to understand the Russian society or thinking but he should have known better.

Also, being alive and in the west would have helped more than being dead in Russia.

    4. People in the West do not realise that, while he was an enemy of Putin, he was not an ally to the west.

He had no problems with Russian aggression or Imperial ambitions, only the cronyism and corruption in the Putins government was making the country less effective at pursuing those ambitions.

He was an idiot for going back. He could have done far more for Russia had he stayed abroad. But he didn’t, and he ended up suffering and dying for nothing.
