Nice overview, would be interesting to have tables like this for the last few mandate periods with the “big topics” (COVID, Financial Crisis 2008 etc.) in other years as well
OP are you down for an “internship” (aka doing lots of work for no money)?

I don’t fw any of these groups. It’s the von der leyen support that breaks it for me.

IIRC, with internal division of the Left group, creation of the ELA European party and them distancing themselves from the far-left members of the group, most of the Left supports Ukraine now.

Still surprised that Volt didn’t joined Renew. They have basically the same exact ideology.

Something I dislike about the EP is the lack of a clear opposition.
EPP and S&D should not both support the same president. They should not be in position together. We need a winner and a loser in elections.

I Have a legit question, why Eurosceptic parties are in the europeu Parliment? That is logical? Or… they are just there to put some money on their pockets?!

Kind of shocking seeing Platforma Obywatelska in center-right. I mean, yeah, that’s where they belong, but in their own country they’re like. Liberals. Evil leftists even, if you’re right-leaning.

Hmm, for supposedly not being a fascist party, AfD sure likes to keep company with actual neo-fascist parties in their new coalition after they got thrown out of ID (now PfE) ….

Bro how is AUR a main part of ECR?

I really hoped renew would get more seats, they had some good points like lessening the power of individual countries when a majority of the union agrees.

This in itself is a reason why European politics is just incomprehensible for ordinary voters, and not for the faint-hearted. The setup of this could have been so much easier and more straightforward, while not leaving important EP seats as a retirement resort for national politics dinosaurs. It’s such a missed opportunity.

Good that we have political options like : Renew Europe.
Pragmatic political block that is trying to innovate politics beyond the left and right.
The left and right are both roads Europe did take to the extreme. We know they lead to problems.
Its good to see that at least some countires are trying to invent a new path that is ether left , nor right.
Middle path is the way. Buddha was correct about that 🧘♂️🙏

I am shocked to see a party from a tiny country like Slovakia here.
Not complaining tho.

Isn’t this a little unfair and undemocratic? EPP got 26,1% of votes but 56% of the commissioners + the president of the commission and the president of the parliament…

Interesting, first time I actulay see anything about EU parlament.
In my opinion, Eurosceptic parties shouldn’t even be in EU parliament. That would be akin of Texas secession movement in US house.

Not a GUE/NGL voter but never got why it is classified as Extreme-Left. It doesn’t even has parties like KKE or BSW.
It’s really weird someone to think that M5S is more to the Left than FdI or PiS are to the Right. ECR is not considered Extreme-Right solely because the other tso make them look good by comparison.

NN joining ESN along with AfD is still quite the haunting blunder for Konf.
