I agree their warning are terrible

      Waze is much better

Fairly distracting having your maps app ask to confirm whether there is a speed camera etc.. Although it was useful after the last storm for people to notify others of dangerous obstacles on the road

Someone started adding a speed camera as a joke at our estate entrance recently. I got distracted the first time I’ve seen the notification for it.

Technically if there was some operation going on then it would be obstruction of that so there is some merit to the call.

They’re either interested in Road Safety or Revenue collection; pick a lane.

I don’t see the point to be honest. If you get an alert you slow down is that not the point, as opposed to someone in front of you spotting a speed van and two footing the brake pedal.

Maybe increase detection with fixed speed cameras etc

I wonder how long they tried to come up with a way of saying motorists going slower because Google tells them to is bad, we want our vans to do it instead. So long as they’re slowing down, who cares why? Half the time Google tells you about an up coming speed trap, it isn’t there anyway, so it’s literally helping the problem by making people slow down unnecessarily. The only issue I can see is a loss of revenue, but of course they can’t say things like that out loud!

How do you get the speed van warnings on Google maps?
I know they are on Waze but haven’t seen them on Google maps.
      I

I’m sure Google will be swayed by this request from *checks notes* Green Party Cork city councillor Oliver Moran
