European officials continue to discuss punishments against X, formerly Twitter, including the possibility of a ban while Elon Musk’s controversial gesture at the presidential inauguration prompted a boycott of the platform on popular message board site Reddit.
Newsweek reached out to X and the European Commission for comment by email on Thursday morning.

Honestly, even as a non European I say ban it.
I’ve been on Twitter and Instagram and people were hella toxic. Far worse than reddit. Europe should get its own social media.

Europe won’t ban X, they don’t have the balls to do so. Guy is the most powerful man in the world, the Swedish Navy will soon start using StarLink and so will the Italian military, what do you think would happen if you piss him off? Reddit is largely based in the US, and they will have to comply with the US gov sooner or later.
