A few months ago we had a friendly competition between Protect a Volunteer and Ukraine Frontline. We competed to see who could fill suitcases with the most medical supplies. Dirty P (at the time part of Chosen Company) u/DirtyPActual challenged u/UFL_Robin to see who could haul the most supplies. Ours were destined for Chosen Company while UFL was distributing theirs to Ukrainian units. We won (barely!) even though it was a bit of an unfair fight. As one of you pointed out, we had the English speakers and the combat footage.
Once the supplies arrived, Chosen Company members opted to send them onward to Khartiia, which is a National Guard unit that gets fewer supplies and was at the time defending Kharkiv and in urgent need of supplies. The soldier you see above is a British military veteran who was in Khartiia. I met him recently as he is in a hospital and he received one of the donated gaming systems. He lost his leg after getting hit by and anti-tank missile. When he first told me the story he said he survived because he had a CAT tournique and also knew how to get a CAT TQ on by himself in the dark. That quick thinking and reliable TQ saved him from bleeding out. He said the TQ came from supplies that another team brought over in suitcases and sent on to Khartiia. Based on the timing of when he got the TQ, we’re as confident as we can be that he had one thanks to this load of medical supplies.
We will never 100% know which donor supplied this as TQs don’t have serial numbers but we are really confident that yes, one of the TQs that Redditors supplied really did go to help someone. Many thanks to all of you for donating and to Dirty P and Robin for hauling everything to Ukraine, which was no easy feat!
If you would like to help him or other injured soldier in the hospital with non-medical needs such as things to do, food, or hygiene supplies, you can donate at this link here. The day we filmed this I also brought a pepperoni pizza with me that was funded through a donation here:

Rock on for your efforts. This hero is with us today because of that. Дякуємо усім вам
He loves Big Macs, too. 😬😂 Happy he’s still with us. Thanks for helping! 🙏🏼
A BIT OF A TANGLE?! The way you said it so nonchalantly. Glad you’re alive with us. Seeing faces of those whose lives were saved by aid that Robin, team, and I bring over makes all the work worthwhile. ❤️
Grateful for your selfless service Rachel and to be able to listen to someone you have helped
Good job, everybody!
We are immensely grateful to all of you and very proud of all you good people.
