      Oh come on!

What benefit will it do for Europe aside from mirroring US deregulation of business?

    2. Appropriate-Mood-69 on

This is of course what it’s all about; rolling back forward thinking policies to pander to the vested interests. Oil & gas, chemical agriculture and name any other polluting industry that’s just like 100 years ago, support the rise of the fascists.

    3. Dazzling_Lobster3656 on

      Don’t curb

Renewables can make us independent of US bullshit

      >Trump criticised EU legislation as “very cumbersome”

That means it is good for the non-Trumpians, right?

    5. eucariota92 on

It is the most logical step. Not because of trump, but because we are killing Europe’s competitiveness just to reduce a bit the emissions of the region that is just responsible for less than 10% of green house emissions.

An absolute madness that we will regret once we become a museum for rich Asians and Americans.

Big Tech Rubbe Barons don’t need the plebs to live, their lives will be sorted by AI on Mars anyway. Might as well drain the planet as long as possible

    7. Sammoonryong on

I mean. It is what it is. They got a point. When everyone sacrifices something its fair. When not we are just “wasting” potential. We cant save the world if we are in a non-existent position geo-politically. As much as I hate to say it.

Like e.g. US doesnt follow suit and dominates the global market to a degree where cant compete. And then we can’t really enforce/suggest/drive anything anymore geopolically anymore. To save the ecology we need a strong economy too. Not saying it cant go hand in hand, but its not competivtive enough yet.

Before anyone condemns me. We got bigger problems. We cant save the world if europe will be fashist in the next decades too.

Edit: I am not talking about energy. The Energy-shift is one of the things id regard as hand in hand with green policies and economic improvements.

I love throwing our children futurer under the bus!!! I LOVE IT

    9. DvD_Anarchist on

How about you don’t and instead put tariffs on America for polluting the world. If EU politicians suck Trump’s dick, I swear I’m gonna go to Brussels and it is not gonna be to enjoy some nice vacations.

    10. educated-pip41 on

There is still so much more really good stuff the estados unidas may have to offer to the world than these two questionable elite children and their wet dreams of good, bad and evil.

It’s fantastically entertaining how the both of them are completely useless to everyone and everything that or who forever may have been this one worlds future and thank you for not posting another picture of trump or the other snob with their mouth open god bless the world, cause its awesome!

    11. It’s almost like if Europe is threatened they will spend more on defence and have less money to put into green energy, and therefore import more oil and gas.

    12. Bytas_Raktai on

      Tl;dr:
Big oil is crying like a little baby because Europe is rightfully telling them they can’t just do whatever the F they want anymore.

      Really F those guys.

    13. PatumPeperiumSum on

      >The latest call for reform of rules that companies say are choking investment came from US oil and gas group ExxonMobil.

      Funny that.

    14. redditor1235711 on

So the answer to US bad smell is shitting our own pants. Lovely logic.

    15. Don’t you dare. Don’t curb.

There are some sacrifices that many of us are willing to make, in return for energy independance and in general a feeling that USA doesn’t grab us from the balls.

    16. Sharp_Win_7989 on

Sadly Europe is everybody’s bitch. Can’t stand on its own feet and make their own decisions.

    17. sharky042003 on

Europe has two of the biggest oil and gas producers in this side of the world: algeria and libya with pipes already built under the sea towards spain and italy but instead of pushing hard and sending reps to negotiate oil and gas exports we import it from the usa via ships…-algeria is only exporting half of what the pipe can carry, libya nothing atm and so on, but noooo we are too puritan and perfect to negotiate with failed states. As if other world actors give a flying f…continue on this road and by the time im dead we will all be a bunch of countries where americans and chinese come for holiday…

    18. RVBlumensaat on

The Davos set is eyeing a delicious profit from using Trump as shock therapy in Europe.

    19. Sweet_Concept2211 on

      Um, no.

If anything, the EU needs to increase the pace of renewable adoption, or humanity is fucked.

MAGA is not forever, and we must invest in the future we want and need.

This is an opportunity for EU tech companies to take the lead.

Choosing to stall innovation because of Trump is flat out stupid.

    20. jcrestor on

Under pressure…by whom? The international billionaire class and their puppets in politics and media?

      Yeah, let’s not do this.

    21. Kevin_Jim on

People are so stupid, man. Europe doesn’t have fossil fuel. Norway has some, and maybe there are some more in the Aegean Sea, which is a nightmare to extract because of geopolitics.

So, where is Europe going to get its energy from if not from renewables?

Honest question: where? All options are some form of an authoritarian regime. Seriously, let’s do the exorcise together:
      – Russia: authoritarian regime
      – US: authoritarian regime
      – Middle East: authoritarian regimes

The only other alternative could be Canada but their majority of exports goes to the US (97% of their crude oil).

Going renewable is not some hipster green policy. It’s a strategic necessity!

Russia cut off Europe and the whole bloc’s economy got pinched in the face.

      We have no other choice.

    22. Fuck Trump.

We.can do the same with public money and prevent the USA oligarcs (and some home made) from controling us.

    23. thehomienextdoor on

Europe do not curb it, just because we were stupid and decided to go down this road again. Please continue to fight for the planet and also build up your tech infrastructure because ours is compromised and can’t be trusted anymore.

    24. hc_fella on

Under pressure by who? Non-green agenda can go fuck itself like the non-existent future trump’s going to bring us.

    25. the_real_mac-t on

Sounds like a real good time to bring those nuclear plants back online.

    26. secretsaucebear on

Our goddamn future is a “Green agenda” apparently

    27. Effective-Split-3576 on

This is the test for the present EU leaders. If they fail it, it would confirm they are unfit as progressive leaders.

    28. vms-crot on

£60 a month for the financial Times, are they fucking high?

Anyway, tf does Europe care about trump’s opinion on green energy. Not that I think any European effort will be able to mitigate against the pollution the US kicks out. If green energy brings energy independence, bring it on. Go harder!

    29. WeeWoooFashion on

I swear to god, never in my life have i seen a political movement more obsessed with identity politics than MAGA.

    30. Livid_Supermarket359 on

Europe needs to find its balls and push back, hard. Without customers for all its garbage, the US won’t last very long. Ban US biz, nationalize companies and just make life very very difficult for Trump. Worse thing to do is to kow tow and show him bullying work.

    31. SmasherOfAvocados on

I just want cheap energy. Don’t really care if it’s green or black by this point

    32. LostDreams44 on

So now since USA has become a laughing stock we must do the same?

    33. Sure. Why not. At this point might as well drive full speed towards the wall.

I swear. Conservatism is a death cult. Conserve “traditional” values a few more decades, even if in the long run it means the extinction of mankind.
