      I am still curious what the US military leadership themselves think about this situation.

      Greenland might be vital in the future, but surely they would rather cooperate with long time partners rather than alienating them?

      I hope the French stick to their word. In the long run it would be far more beneficial for them to have a presence on Greenland than it ever was in Africa. More than that at this point I’m all for a fully blown EU backed militarization of Greenland – to the point of excluding everyone else. Greenland is Europe, get off our territory. Independent or as a part of Denmark, but a part of Europe and the EU.

      I see people saying “this is what Trump wanted all along – he is a genius!”.

      But that is bullshit. The island is protected already by NATO. Noone will be attacking even if there was no US military base.

      What this will result in is a military build up around the US military base. Defences will be pointed at likely American aggression, not at other figments of imagination. Is that what Trump’s genius wanted for the good of Greenland? Hurr durr.

      It’s about Trump wanting to expand American borders. He said himself in his speech on the 20th of January. He’s an expansionist president just like his idol President McKinley.

      They’ve been saying “we’ll put French boots on Ukrainian soil” for so long, but never follow through.

      Now they’re indicating they’ll put French troops on Greelandic soil.

      Yes lads.

      I’m a Brit, and after the last few decades, absolutely no one can label the French as “surrendering” or soft any more. They are one of the few places left with the actual stones to take action.

      I hope to God that we follow you, the UK should be standing shoulder to should with our brothers from France and wider Europe.
