While on vacation hiking in Sedona, AZ, I had the good fortune of meeting German hikers along the trail in one of the more popular spots. A middle-aged couple, the woman especially, exuded such joy. She said, “I feel so lucky to be here!” with a big smile on her face.

I’ve always chuckled at the German hiker stereotype, but to see them in the wild where I could literally feel their deep appreciation of the landscape was both humbling and lovely to see.

So thank you German hikers! You made this cranky American’s day. (And yes I’m pretty sure they were wearing Jack Wolfskin ๐Ÿ˜‚)

    2. until very recently, it was some sort of my dream to visit those formstions

In Cornwall UK if you see tourists walking to what seems to be nowhere with hiking gear and walking poles you can almost guarantee they are German because they walk distances most people would drive. I have every respect for them though as I love going on a long walk even if itโ€™s to no particular landmark.
