Love seeing over priced rental ads, great bit of rage bait and you even went the extra mile with the youths.
€5000 is a helluva lot. Jesus. But if I think about it on a per-room basis, it’s 20% cheaper than my two-bed apartment and has four more bathrooms, plus a garden, and probably off street parking.
Makes me think that it’s not excessive compared to some other smaller places out there that might cost less in total but cost outrageously more for what you get.
Frankly a tiny studio apartment for 1500 vs a double bed in a house for 1250, I think, present very different cost proposals.
PSR exempt? I fucking doubt that, more than likely a landlord not wanting the revenue department to be sniffing around him. I’d report it the PSRA and get him investigated.
They price them this way because they know that someone has 12 Chinese/Indian/Brazilian students/immigrants on their books, who are all willing to play musical beds and pay €700 a month for the privilege.
Rent “co-ordinator” takes in €8k, hands €5k to the landlord, both walk away laughing. The landlord never hears a peep out of it, he lets the lessee do all the admin work.
Landlord knows that no group of professionals is going to pay this to rent on their own, so this price discourages them from even asking.
PSR really needs a lot more teeth here, with maximum occupation rates for rental properties set out in law, a requirement to record all occupants, the ability to perform unannounced inspections, and proper punitive fines for landlords taking the piss.
It looks like a co living house. 4 double bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
I’m guessing each bedroom is a good size and has it’s own ensuite.
It also looks like it has two kitchens.
It is also a 10 minute walk to University Hospital Limerick, which you failed to mention.
€1200 a month per person basically. Plenty of young nurses or doctors in the hopsital would pay that and have a walkable trip to work and no need for a car or public transport costs.
But lets not let any of that get in the way of the RAGEBAIT 🤣
Out near the hospital, so they’re probably looking to catch some desperate nurses and doctors to rob blind for a place to stay that allows them to live near where they work. This landlord is a prime example of why people call landlords leaches.
I’ve lived in many countries where people who invest in housing treat it like a nest egg. The rent covers the mortgage by a little or a bit less, and they are rewarded in old age with a property they own, and a return on their investment. But here, we’re getting rode for rent by houses that cost four to five times more than the average mortgage.

I’m 38, work full time and renting a room in shared accommodation. Been looking for a place of my own for ages. Can’t find anything that will leave me with enough diesel to get to work and back, let alone other bills.
To all the posters on here bemoaning why the government isn’t doing more to stabilise house prices and rents, please stop.
Inflation of the housing market is a deliberate policy decision by both FG and FF. Their core voters are invested in them because the value of their assets and holdings is guaranteed to increase well above the rate of inflation. They simply do not want to see house prices stabilise or rents decrease because that will literally cost them money.
The housing plan is working perfectly for them by the way.
