Sweden detained a separate ship on Sunday the 26th [https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/har-stormas-fartyget-av-insatsstyrkan-efter-misstankta-kabelsabotaget](https://www.svt.se/nyheter/inrikes/har-stormas-fartyget-av-insatsstyrkan-efter-misstankta-kabelsabotaget) also involved in this suspected sabotage.
This secondary ship has been detained by Norway at the request of *LATVIA authorities as a co-suspect in the suspected sabotage. The ship is ran under a Norwegian flag but the entire crew is russian.
The ship Sweden detained has argued they lost their anchor as an accident and didn’t notice, something a Navy Major argues is impossible since it both makes a lot of sound as well as impacts the direction of the ship during such an accident. As of now (per Swedish news) nothing has been determined yet in the investigation.

I think Nordic countries are going to accidentally end up with a fleet of old, shitty, Russian ships.
If the Nordics had the same weak spine as Western Europe, everything on that sea would be fucked by now.

Charge them with aggravated criminal damage (or the relevant local equivalent), jail the crew, confiscate the ships and cargo and sell them.
That’s the only deterrent that will work.

You get caught, you end up in Norwegian prison. Still a win.
