      If drug cartels are able to import their drugs to any place on earth with like 90% efficiency, we should not be surprised that an imperialistic and militaristic country, known for their KGB and other secretive services, are able to import sanctioned goods.

      Maybe someone with deep pockets can determine which bearings are needed and gobble them all up. It would be fairly easy.

      Note that this is still a major reduction and despite circumvention to a great extent the sanctions work.

      In 2021 SKF alone supplied the market in Russia with 200 million USD worth in ballbearings, meaning that Russia gets their grubby little hands on less than 5% of the SKF ball bearings that they used to.

      The ISP (Inspectorate for Strategic products) have also been all over SKF since reports surfaced in June 2024 of swedish goods ending up in Russian hands and have so far not found any signs that this is an intentional circumvention from the Swedish side, so most likely this is second hand sales (for example from the chinese market).

      The picture illustrating the article is misleading: in tanks and IFVs, the Russians use own manufacturing bearings.
      In addition,  in 2021 year Russia produced the bearings: approximately 70% were made in Russia.
      The critical situation was with bearings for trolleys in 2023, but they were supplied by Chinese companies that have joint factories with American companies.
      Now, the situation is not critical, as the Russians have launched their production: less high-quality and durable, but functional
      The figures from customs statistics ( see article) confirm this: a reduction 
      from $400 million to $40 million.
