Isn’t the government handing over tons of cash to rebuild private homes?

Having read the article, Im disgusted that a live cable and a leaking pipe have been used to justify the cost increase. The cable is something the contractor should have discovered during their initial site investigation, and the leaking pipe, if its an issue, is on the owner of the pipe.

The OPW seems to get scrutinized for overspending a lot lately for what would be minor amounts in any other department. The HSE could sneeze 500k without noticing it. OPW maintain our most precious national buildings, and have to therefore hire expertise that is rare and very pricey to ensure work done is appropriate and preservative.

Looking at some of the houses that need to be rebuilt in Donegal, his constituency seemed to splurged a tad too.
