You don’t exist in Europe spiritually if you’re not represented at Eurovision. You also have to beat UK, which is such a low bar, but honestly, Australia is more spiritually Euro than you bro.

We should definitely get Canada into the EU, with California included as part of Canada. Who’s with me?

They have French people. That should be enough.

Putin went nuts for a border with NATO, the US would lose their minds with the EU and our regulations on their border.

This is literally how the Western hemisphere worked, until the US saw orange man fit to be re-elected.
One election can make all the difference, don’t make such a big fuss about it.
I still want closer ties to Canada than to the USA of course.

I mean, it’s not. It’s *very* evident. They’re very North American, yes even the french part.

I can imagine Canada in the EU.
It would be a hard sell in many EU countries, dealing with (far) right voters and parties.
But I like to imagine how the US would react to the prospect of Bulgarians and Latvians having unrestricted freedom to go build their lives anywhere they want along the US border.

Honestly at this point, i think we need a new system. EU is great and all, but there are no tools to deal with nations like Hungary. Eventually there will be another country that switches sides and there has to be tools to deal with them. Plus an economic alliance that exceeds european boundaries is required.
I would rather prefer that EU and allies create a new agreement than just keep adding members to the existing EU / Shengen.
Something like Global Democratic Free Trade zone where members can be voted out or in, not with 100% agreement, but rather as democracies state, 51% majority. Vetoing fucks everything up, it makes zero sense that 1 country can block a motion that affects all nations in the zone.

Canadians would never want to join the EU with all the concessions they’d have to make. I also don’t think it makes the least of sense, they are North American with North American culture. Much more realistic to have better trade deals with them.

Canada is Canada. It’s not part of the U.S. and it’s not pert of Europe either.
Europe and Canada share a lot of common outlooks and parts of Europe share historical connections with it, but it isn’t Europe and I think this notion that Canada should become part of Europe is about as offensive to Canadians as a notion that it should become the 51st state of the U.S.
We should be standing in solidarity with Canadians, not suggesting that they need to somehow become part of Europe — that’s Trump talk!
Alliance, improved trade and a lot of solidarity is where this should be headed and protecting the open, friendly world we have built in the modern era, and avoiding any slip back to old imperial b/s from the likes of Trump or Putin..

Canada would genuinely fit in more as the 51st state than a member of the EU. Have you actually met Canadians?

I love Canada and especially Québec but still, even most québécois feel more close culturally to american than to french, and that’s normal, we have been separated for a long time, they created their own culture that have been influenced by their neighbours.
