Mexico already reached an agreement to halt tariffs, wonder if Canada will do the same
So the US is subsidizing EU industry, by paying more for their imports and pushing exporters to the EU.
Maybe these tariffs aren’t so bad after all. 🙂
For those unaware we’re in a free trade agreement with the USA and have been since WW II and the Canadian and American economies are basically integrated when it comes to goods. The trade volume is 900 billion USD which can be compared to Germany-France trade volume of like 300 billion USD. For Ontario and Michigan the level of economic integration is probably greater than even in the Benelux countries or maybe Sweden-Denmark around the bridge area.
And Trump decided to rip all that up overnight. Assuming he sticks to the tariffs it’s the biggest economic shock in a century.
In terms of avoiding our apparently inevitable annexation, we don’t have the infrastructure we’re going to need. A significant chunk of our domestic east-west shipping moves through the United States (the nearest major saltwater port to me by rail is New York).
You people know how to build railroads and pipelines right? We can’t to save our lives, or our country, apparently. Halp.

Good, I hope the EU, Mexico and Canada (and maybe even China) can coordinate how to best survive and maybe even flourish the trade war with the US. Form a free trading block with a focus on the future.
When the US has purged its fascist and oligarch elements, they can join the sane rational world again. Maybe. Till that time we should make sure that we don’t need them.
