What exactly is Martins strategy here? Does he really think he can stop hundreds of Irish people being deported? I don’t think Trump is going to want to be seen to be showing favourites….

I don’t think we should expend any political capital here ultimately the law is the law and Ireland is hardly an unsafe place to be deported to.

He has to do it. But really what he cares about is the FDI. Irish politicians are terrible at reigning in special interests at home or at managing the cost of living. But they are generally good at diplomacy.
I think Martin should do ok with Trump & co. I’m glad it’s him and not Simon Harris.
Like only thing that could work would be an exception for Irish illegal immigrants but not sure why trump or America would agree to it as wouldn’t go down well with their base
Seems like a pointless thing to do that would waste any political capital that when we have should be focusing on avoiding/minimising tariffs and their impact

Illegal Irish
I say this as someone who has had family deported from the US for living there illegally. Fuck them, they broke the law and got caught, why he is doing advocacy for them is beyond parody. It doesn’t make them bad people, but they know themselves they were on borrowed time.
