      >The pact could see Turkey establish new air bases in Syria, use Syrian airspace for military purposes, and take a lead role in training troops in Syria’s new army, the sources said.

You know, this sort of got me thinking. A lot of Turks have said that Erdogan has eroded the secular and republican structures of the state through constitutional reform, military purges, using refugees to change demographic structures, and eroding the Turkishness of Turkey.

Let’s say these motivations are definitely true, and that they’re also unpopular with the people, coupled with greater resistance.

Now, I’m not saying this is the case, but if I were Erdogan, it would be very convenient to have a trained and armed ‘second army’ next door to Turkey. We know that even after the purges he still doesn’t trust the military. If something were to happen one day, these Syrian guys could always be funneled across the border to do dirty work.

There are two military bases in Syria which are looking for a new owner…

This man was a wanted active terrorist. All of this is a big joke to me. Turkey needs to be sanctioned and cut off from western arms supply for material help to terrorists. Political heads need to roll in Europe. This level of hypocrisy is untenable. I do not want to help terrorists establish power in a state.

Well, at least they’re not going with Russia yet.

Kurds need their place, they are but all the biggest military and democratic power in the region.
