I’d say we’re about to see some skeletons become decloseted.
It’s a pity. I’m sure he set up the charity with the best of intentions at the start. Looks like it became seriously mismanaged as it grew in size.
All charities are corrupt

Top 5 have 150 million in funding for 15.000 homeless
Top 5 Dublin Simon, Focus, McVerry Trust, Novas and Threshold employed 1774 people.
He did more for homeless people than any other person in Ireland over the last 50yrs and at 81 he lives in a tiny flat in Ballymun.
If there were issues with how the charity was run one thing we can say with certainty is that Peter McVerry wasn’t gaining anything personally and the homeless people were always his #1 priority.
I always wondered who sets up a homeless charity and then names it after himself.
In any case this crowd are clearly naive amateurs judging by a number of news stories relating to them in the past few years.
Another “charity” which I assume once the information comes out will just be a few lads ripping everyone off and walking away with all the money in their back pockets
At this stage any donations to charities in Ireland is questionable as they all seem to have boards/director on extravagant wages and bonuses
Steps down as Secretary, but is still listed as a board member. He’s going nowhere and is still deeply involved in the organisation.
I lived in one of their properties for a few months. They kept me off the streets. And the apartment was bigger than the one Fr McVerry lives in himself.
Nice staff and he’s a good man. It’s just one or two bad apples in management who ruined it.
So very sad to see Fr Peter McVerry stepping down after doing so much to end homelessness. When we look back in the future he’ll be viewed as one of the greats.
