No, it says you can start the process four months at the earliest before the wedding date. So you can’t do it five months before, but you can do it three weeks before the wedding.
It took like 2 weeks for me, but also what the other commentor said; you can start the request right now if the marriage date is sooner than 4 months from now
Use e-form. Do it month before trip here.
Generally speaking, authorities don’t like it when you get married while on a different visa, but they also can’t really do anything about it because once married, you (generally) qualify for a resident permit.
You might have met the love of your life while on vacation in the EU, and wanted to get married right away. Kinda like a Las Vegas wedding, but sadly without the king.
I am getting married on the 7th of June. I can start the process on the 7th of February. I cannot start it today on the 5th of February.
For you to get married here, I believe you need an official document from the US government etc that you’re not married there.
Luckily if your visa expires, you don’t have to leave the country and you won’t be illegal at any point during the process. Once you are in Finland, you can wait for the process to end, or f is denied, you are already here to appeal. Congratulations for your wedding!
