In theory a good idea? But who oversees their work is done to a good standard and in a safe manner?

Why not get them to dig trenches where we can buy the cables ?

But most of the trees in rural Ireland belong and are the responsibility of the farmers.

We all know they’ll cut down the one tree that an inconvenience to ploughing regardless of how far it’s from the lines. Or just for the free firewood

Aren’t the trees mostly on farmland? Owned by the farmers? And their responsibility to maintain? Have they not been doing this already? If not then I have a theory about why the trees caused so much damage to power lines.

Let’s just leave it to the ESB and Coillte etc to manage the management and felling of trees near the power lines, sure that’s working fine. We’ve seen no issues related to poorly managed forestry and trees interfering with the national grid before have we?????

The Farmer’s group should appoint a dedicated Branch Manager to oversee everything..

    8. Is it not already their responsibility to look after trees that are on their land?

Or put power cables underground, then the trees can’t hit them.

The problem is with the forestries not along the side of the road.
