I get the feeling this is France only, not the EU? If so, such a missed opportunity for a co-ordinated approach

Well as usual, acording to last years figure, per capita it was Denmark, Ireland, Finland, Sweden and the Neatherlands that had most AI investments 2024.
So to say it’s only France is way to simlified. As it’s so many countries and even so many big countries, even if France is the biggest spender among the bigger countries in the entire Europe per capita is way to simple.
The big thing is that all shoud do and not just letting the usual “suspects” doing all. Especially due to those countries often beeing small and not able to match the US or China.

Has anyone read the article? One investment is from a Canadian company, the other from UAE.
The Canadian one can be acquired by any other company, it’s an investment fund. The UAE… it’s worrying at least.

And €20bn comes from a Canadian investment firm.
Well interesting. I wonder how much of that decision was influenced by certain recent events…

Will France open source and share this AI openly for the benefit of global communities(like Deepseek) or will it keep it source code restricted, closed and secret so it only benefit France and its investors(like OpenAI, Anthropic etc)?
Why didn’t France invite other EU states for this project? It would greatly increase the chance of it go head to head against US and China.
Imagine, EU as a whole, put a percentage of GDP toward this project together (like 2%) it would propel EU to become a leading leader in AI.
