Like it or not, Europe can’t supply Ukraine with everything they need.
They need continued US weapons deliveries for the foreseeable future.
If they’re purchased and not donated, then I don’t want to hear any of this previous bullshit they’ve had to deal with with restrictions on use.
Conditions on use were unpalatable at best when they were donated, but when you’re essentially trying to extort the people who are not only fighting for their existence, but essentially fighting your fight for you (the whole reason all those weapons exist) then you can fuck riiight off.
Hey if theyre willing to sell even the same weapons with with no restrictions to Ukraine and not russia, and Europe ponies up the cash this could be a good thing

Assuming that there would be no “restrictions” imposed on the use of those weapons. It’s time to get serious and let Ukraine defend itself on par with the enemy.
Won’t happen. EU will assign most budget to EU vendors even if more expensive or later delivery date. Buying US is not popular lately. Only systems which there is no alternative for will be considered.
There is few systems EU doesn’t have alternatives for. Himars and Patriot are the most important. SAMP/T production capacity for both missiles and system components is insufficient.

I think Europeans should buy more from themselves regarding military equipment and Canada should drop the US as a supplier.

Of course, they are trying to channel a lot of the money that the Europeans now have to spend because of Putin to the USA. But we should save ourselves the postage and invest in our military-industrial complex instead. Taxes and jobs are also very pleasant side effects. Our billions stay!
A thousand bradleys from the decommission pile at book/scrap value would be a win/win.

What is Europe waiting for? Buy as many HIMARS rounds, Bradleys, tomahawks, F-16s and AIM-120s that the US is willing to sell. Europe simply doesn’t have the production capacity to deliver these items in the quantity Ukraine urgently needs, so if the US is willing to sell then by all means buy it.
If Ukraine wants a reliable source of weapons and parts it needs EU build weapons. The USA has unfortunatly shown they are not likely to stay true to any commitment or even contract anymore.
That kinda goes the rest of the world too to be honest.
Lets give Ukraine more German space magic to fuck some Invasors up and safeguard democracy in general.
