With the Frugal Four, chances of this happening are pretty low….

No. But thanks for asking.

This crap is why EU will never really work, lazy freeloaders will always look for free ride.

This would be great if they can make it happen. Germany and my own country the Netherlands however have other opinions xd

Spain is always pushing for more common spending while somehow not giving up any amount of autonomy on how to spend. Want joint borrowing? Fine, but that means everyone gets a say on how it is spent

No way, this simply isn’t going to work. You can’t have separate laws, taxes and individual borders and then jointly be liable for others debts.

Does anyone not now what the kommission is working towards? Simplification of taxes and capital union. Seeing comments being against spending on an EU level is so weird. Every expert says it will be beneficial and will boost the economy

Strange how all the net receivers always want more money in the EU pots, why the net givers refuse……

EU budget should have been cut when UK left. It is not too late to do it now.

Some people seem to don’t realize how it works. If you’re a federalist you should be applauding this Spanish proposal, *especially if your country is a net giver*.
Initial situation: you can’t push for a federal EU out of nowhere. Game theory don’t work like that, and all the established national powers will be against you: you want to reduce their power.
So step one, push new and possibly unrelated mechanisms that can’t work optimally without further harmonization and a federal EU.
Step two, complain that’s not optimal.
Step three, “there is no alternative”: we now urgently need further harmonization and a federal EU. Either this, or to get out entirely: there is now alternative. The rest is a matter of the EU proving it is a good project, better to be inside it rather than out. Which ensures quality down the line. It’s now up to the national powers to adapt or get out.
Again: any person believing in a federal EU someday should be pushing hard for more EU spending and common EU bonds / debts. You will never have a EU elected president *then* a EU army, systems aren’t tidy like that: first you’ll have a semblance of EU army that doesn’t work, *then and only then* the realization they need a commander in chief and therefore we need to elect one.
*Besides, if you think Spain is a freeloader by asking this: why are you even here exactly? The EU has been all about feeding freeloaders with mountains of cash, and look where freeloading Spain is now: fast growing, en route to become a net giver someday. Good for us, good for Spain.*

The neverending desire to always spend money they don’t have as well as other people’s money if why the EU will never be a federal union.

It genuinely seems like the Spanish government is continually trying to do good things. Not sure there are many other countries in the EU giving the same energy.

Strange. I don’t see Spain as a net contributor on this list?

What about spending at least 2% instead of 1% on millitary… Spain?
It’s a terrible idea
Of course it’s one of the southern countries.
