Trump is basically not interested that much in the Ukraine-Russia war, he is mainly interested in profits and gaining as much support as possible (even in the smallest things like straws). He will gain a lot of support if he stops the war in Ukraine (regardless of whether this peace will be efficient or not). Recently Ukraine suggested he get minerals from Ukraine, and he became very interested in all of that and now he is kinda ready to support Ukraine (because most of the resources are now under Russia’s control). And also note that Trump is unpredictable and he can change his opinion in seconds or so.
His administration is following the realist doctrine. But he is saying quite part out loud.
Short of sending troops there’s nothing left to do anymore. I’m extremely pro-Ukraine, there still might be hope by sending exteme amounts of weapons. But Biden administration sent bare minimum to weaken Russia and Ukraine couldn’t win that. And now it’s too late.
