      *From Bloomberg News:*

Donald Trump is starting to tell European Union leaders what they need to do if they want to secure peace in Ukraine. His demands are set to push the bloc to its limits.

Trump spoke with Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, setting the wheels in motion for peace talks, just as his defense secretary was explaining to his European allies that they are going to have to shoulder most of the burden for any settlement. Bloomberg Economics calculates that protecting Ukraine and expanding their own militaries could cost the continent’s major powers an additional $3.1 trillion over the next 10 years.

Such a commitment would expose fractures the EU has been glossing over for years. But with an authoritarian petro-state menacing its eastern borders and a growing realization that they can’t rely on the White House, the cost of inaction could be much higher.

Trump isn’t trying to help Ukraine. He’s becoming a hindrance.

So let’s see Trump’s plan so far

*russia gets to keep all territories

      *Ukraine never joins NATO

*Ukraine hands over rare earth minerals

      *EU pays for Ukraine’s defense

*Trump gets all the credit for “stopping” the war

I agree that Europe needs to spend more on defense. Dearming and becoming dependent on russian energy was putin’s wet dream. He thought this fact alone would win him the war. But US and russia giving up nothing at all and dictating terms is not diplomacy, it’s two dictators playing pretend.

With a fraction of that money Europe could replace all US support to Ukraine, so why spend it on a bad peace plan?

america is a lost cause, there’s no reason to entertain their flaccid participation in this situation any longer.

EU needs to do what it should have done years ago, properly invest in defence and properly support Ukraine. It would be cheaper to do both than go along with this extortion from the US.

      Trump is clueless.

Anything he does is to bolster his own personal wealth.

He doesn’t care about Ukraine or Europe.

European allies “buy almost 100% of our oil and gas from Russia in spite of their continuous threats and agression while we also don’t take military and NATO dues seriously plan” is the exact reason this war is happening.

The greatest backstabber in the history of the world. L&G, I introduce to you, the USA.

I trust he understands that in case of a war with China, EU will simply trust that both teams are having fun. China is arguably more important economically, and any trace of value/moral superiority of US is gone.

That fucking moron doesn’t have a plan!
He’s still at the concept of a concept.

Step 1: European countries leave NATO

Step 2: European countries make not-NATO with a selective membership

Step 3: Tell Russia and America to fuck off.

Step 4: Liberate Ukraine and end Russia.

The united states doesn’t get to make decisions about the future of Europe. Ukraine is one of ours, Europe is ours, not the vassal states of some orange windbag American who has blundered into a position of fascist dictator of the united states.

Europe needs to move away from the USA
      They can’t be trusted anymore

I think as a European we need to stop relying on America and become as strong militarily as them, atleast in Europe. We don’t need to project power 1000s of miles away or have lots of nukes but locally we should have a scary military so that we’re not held hostage by Russia or American demands.

This would need to be done by the big countries in Europe though, as we’ve seen it’s too easy for the Hungary and the Serbias of Europe to just be bought by Russia.

Meanwhile Russian economy just got a boost from the peace plan. Way to go!

At some point the current USA leaders are gonna realize that these decisions are very complicated and impossible to solve “in a day”, or without long discussions with allies.

      It’s chess Donnie, not checkers.

Long be a long 4 yrs..

Tip, you can use a certain webpage that saves webpages in their archive (links banned on this sub I believe)

So those costs would also include enlarging the EU member state’s army, something that has to be done anyways.

And since the USA isn’t helping, they of course won’t get the minerals and reconstruction contracts. EU can step in for that.

Ukraine could also sue Russia in an international court to get the frozen 300 billion maybe?

And after all is said and done, Ukraine joins EU which is a sort of defensive pact on its own.

But first, get a better peace deal without Trump.
