I think that’s true. Some people/parties may not like it but there’s unfortunately going to have to be some pandering to Trump.

I very much wouldn’t be surprised if there wasn’t an invite. Trump has clearly been moving away from all its allies, it would be weird to continue giving us an olive branch at the same time.

I don’t think they’ve any choice other than to go and play the game, but I think they’re going to get a frosty reception. The more I read about Howard Lutnick the new Secretary of Commerce, the more concerned I get, especially his comments directed towards Ireland.
Time for some realpolitik.
Ireland is Americas 7th biggest investor in the world and Irish companies employs hundreds of thousands in America . If trump embarrasses or insulted us or Europe which they’ve done already in Munich ,why don’t we start to align ourselves with China and make them our biggest trading partner , we need to set up a European army quickly also , forget about trump , America and their good friend Putin , time we stood on our own feet , China is the way to go .
Harris or Martin don’t have the skillset in politics to deal with Trump. What’s even worse is they think they do.

It should be stressed that, nothing good will come from this trip but it has to happen. The current Administration in the US wants to destroy the EU so expect some faux outrage and controversy.
Will ireland voters elect a goverment for the people and use the wealth to improve the lives of the country instaed of ones with there fingers in the grubby till.
