Yes! Our anti-hate speech law could also be weaponized. Germany is a whole different animal it looks like though.

What is scary? We do have laws that fight against hate speech or defamation. That’s how they convicted Belkacem and Van Langenhove.
Most haters of laws like these are hypocrites. They are against those laws when it applies to what they are doing, but want them to be stricter when their “enemy” is using his “freedom of speech” to say things against them. Extreme right parties such as VB are a great example for that. They want to have the right to hate on muslims, but when a terroristic group didn’t do anything yet but speeching hate they want them to be raided sooner.
