So likely what will happen now is these generators will be bought at what some people will consider a very high price.
The plants that don’t have emergency generators currently will need electrical upgrades to allow generators to be hooked up in an emergency again this will cost a not insignificant amount of money.
Further emergency generators will need to be serviced and maintained likely a start and run at a minimum each and every month. They’ll also need to be stored somewhere. You guessed it that’ll be a few bob.
Now hopefully/likely we won’t see a storm event like we’ve had again for say 5 years, but in 3 ish years when some journalist with fuck all to do on a Thursday in August bloviates at the wasteful spending on 100 generators cost x gathering dust in storage costing y and being maintained costing z I hope we all remember the why.
