The whole industry needs to be euthanised…. not the dogs though they are good dogs.
The use of taxpayer money for this seems ironclad, even the greens voted to continue it
Fair play to the Greens for funding this in their last year in Government.
Ban it entirely and build houses on the old tracks.
What’s the history of the gov funding around this? Seems insane in this day and age
I had a mate who raced greyhounds and genuinely he cared for them each like their were his kids. Would be in floods of tears when one of them was injured or put down. But I could never wrap my head around how he could justify racing them when he cared so much.
He was the reason I decided to get my grey rescue ex coursing dog. And they are such highly intuitive, goofy and reliant dogs I just don’t think I could ever even attend a race after having such a sweet pet.
Irish greyhound race meetings have an average attendance of 269, it’s insane this gets the level of taxpayer funding it does
It’s an extremely odd use of public money. It’s not even a popular pastime.
Wales decided to ban it recently. Hopefully the rest of the UK and ourselves follow suit soon enough
Sure, it’s grand theres 197 million euro in the kitty to get more! But can’t find money to pay Nurses??
Whatever about banning it, pull every fucking single cent of public funding for it.
