Lets start talking about the services that the US exports but doesnt import. The cloud providers, social media etc.

Can this idiotic creature not give some insane declarations for at least a day? Literally every time I refresh reddit, this dumbass appears to have further destroyed the US relationship with Europe, Canada or other allies.

*The first Trump administration proposed additional duties on EU exports that were worth $11 billion in retaliation for a bloc granting aircraft manufacturer Airbus (EADSY) what they viewed to be illegal subsidies. The World Trade Organization (WTO) ended up ruling that the subsidies hurt the U.S. by causing an Airbus rival, Boeing Co. (BA), to lose sales in an uncompetitive manner.*

Hmm, I wonder which highly respected American market leader will bite the dust this time.

    4. Street-Yak5852 on

Right, can we all just agree to do the one thing that Trump will hate above all else and just stop talking about him?

Literally, just don’t post about him. Don’t talk about him to your friends. Don’t reply to this comment. Don’t do anything. Just ignore him. Just keep on scrolling.

      >The European Union, for instance, collects a 10% duty on vehicle imports, four times the US passenger car tariff rate of 2.5%.

Why do we keep allowing Trump to lie about this? The EU doesn’t have any tariffs on the US unless the US place tariffs first.

I hope americans wake up and do something about putin’s lackeys in the white house before it’s too late for everyone

I dunno, I don’t think we’ve ever stabbed you in the back like you’ve just done to us.

    8. franzderbernd on

Well he can try to make trade deals with his hero Putin. Good luck.

The American car market has always pandered to American consumers. Historically, American car companies have needed to make European versions of their cars in America and sell them in Europe.

They can cut their tariffs to 0% and it wouldn’t budge the Europe’s markets. Because Europeans don’t want Americans cars with their terrible fuel economy and completely ignorant sizes. They need to set up new production lines to cater to European markets and American companies haven’t done that because European competition is too strife. They pioneer fuel economy technology European cars are sold en masse to America because of their quality and brand name. American cars don’t have that notoriety anywhere else in the world. As a genuine driving force – Europeans participate in the endurance Le Mans and performance F1 which actually pushes the bounds of fuel economy. The engineers involved constantly improve commercial engines. Meanwhile Americans participate in the American NASCAR, which factually does not prioritise fuel economy or endurance or performance and only caters to American markets.

They are better manufacturers than Americans. Cry “tariffs” all you want. You’ll still be buying Japanese cars if not European ones.

You can deduce it to quantitative measures if you want – but Americans will still buy European cars even with whatever dreamscape tariffs Trump dreams up.

Fact: The main export of EU to the US are pharmaceuticals.

So american population ise just going to get fleeced even more, I doubt our pharma companies care too much for even higher prices.

It’s also not some shit they can get easily anywhere else either.

    11. Shot-Total-2575 on

i don’t think theres is much of a point in making it easier for Trump. We should start cutting the US off and take matters in our own hands. We, as the EU, need to defeat Putin and the Americans Trump.

There is no negotiating with this admin, everything will be done in bad faith.

    13. JadedLeafs on

I can think of a at least one country you could trade more with that respects the deals they make and align way more politically and socially with Europe than the US ever did. 🙂

    14. The US is weakening. It is sad to see, but it’s also an opportunity for Europe to gain power.

    15. Reasonable_Bat_1209 on

If only he would treat Europe as well as he treats Russia.

    16. The Toddler in Chief is such a cry baby. Everything and everyone is unfair and take advantage of the US and him personally. While he builds walls it would be good to remember that there will be almost 7 billion people outside them.

Everyone has to do their bit to stand up to the tyrant.

Hope can return only when Trump is gone.

    18. kraeutrpolizei on

We should just boycott US goods like the Canadians at this point

    19. Grzegorz_93 on

I know China is an authoritarian dictatorship, but maybe Europe can make US weaker by trading with China? or is it too crazy?

    20. Hikashuri on

Alright EU, destroy Tesla for the love of god so Musk loses hundreds of billions of dollars on Tesla stock.

    21. yellowbai on

Every day this cretin breathes proves how much we need a strong EU. Thank God it exists.

    22. foundafreeusername on

I hope the EU finally pushes for some proper competition to Google, Microsoft, Meta, Apple, Amazon, … These large US companies are too big for any smaller European company to compete with. Now is a good time to fight against that.

It would even help with the trade balance Trump keeps complaining about because Europe spends a tons of money on software / services and intellectual property from the US which are excluded from those statistics. Reducing the influence of these giants would lead to purchase of more actual physical goods from the US.

    23. RemarkableChange8398 on

Honestly, at this point, stop threatening us with it and fucking do it. Let’s have a go at that trade war. I’ll take some suffering as long as the Americans feel it even worse. I hope Ursula and the Brussels gang buries this sorry excuse for a tyrant in reciprocal tariffs.

    24. 90bubbel on

welp. there it is, usa just killed its own economy and trade relations

    25. suisso14 on

Goddamn, those talks in Riadh where very fruitfull for Putin. A lot of rethoric (I mean, more than usual) coming from Trump in so few days.

      God save us all

    26. Confident_bonus_666 on

SHUT THE FUCK UP. America has been the premier benefactor of the new world order post WW2. And now they’re actively and willingly dismantling it themselves. It would be laughable if it weren’t so fucking tragic. China and Russia can’t believe their own luck right now.

    27. toniyevych on

The EU don’t buy some American products, because they are not so great. I can’t imagine an Italian buying American cheese, for example. The same can be said about chocolate, wine, etc.

Also, I will not mind if the EU will impose some restrictions on Facebook, Instagram, and other companies collecting and selling the personal data.

    28. Polly_der_Papagei on

      25 % tariffs on cars?

This might finally convince Germany that the US is no longer an ally.

    29. Boycot all USA products. They want our money and foremost our Data to controle us more in the future.

    30. CosmicEmotion on

I’m glad not gonna lie. This is the only way our leaders will disengage from this stupid baboon.

    31. sanschefaudage on

The EU will send patrols in the Atlantic to stop fentanyl and Trump will back down

    32. No. No. No. That’s not how you play the Trump game. He raises Tariffs to 25% on cars, pharma and chips, you raise export duties on them to 50%. Let the Americans get angry when they can’t get Ozempic, BMW’s and ARM Processors for a while. The only way to beat this bellend is to make his people hate him.

If you give in, he will do it again and again until your arse is bleeding.

    33. CavaloTrancoso on

Trump doesn’t want negotiations. Trumps wants to cut relations with every free democracy so he can solidify his dictatorship.
