      The article is paywalled for me but the gist is visible.

      Seems like there is zero enforcement for people who ignore planning laws. What is gonna happen on the back of the bench warrant?

      There’s another case with a couple in Meath and it’s going on years but no enforcement. Seems like the appeals process can be used indefinitely to prevent any action being taken.

      Just as there seems to be a bit of confusion.

      The current planning exemption being discussed, not yet approved, for modular homes would only be for placing on a site that has already been approved for housing. So within the site boundary for which planning was originally applied for, or the established residential plot for older properties.

      You wouldn’t be allowed put a modular unit on an agricultural field adjacent to your back garden, or down the road, which is in effect what this man has done.

      There’s a key distinction there when it comes to things like wastewater, etc.

      Planning permission are generally a fucking joke. They wouldn’t let my cousin paint his house for some odd fucking reason so it’s sat for years now that horrible concrete colour that makes the whole place look like shite

      I have a friend who basically built a house inside a large barn. You would nevrr know it was there.
      When you walk into it you would think you walked into a 3 bed bungalow.
      It’s just a big cuboid on the outside of it. Doesn’t even need a pitched roof because it never gets wet anyway.
      His son and dil have been living in it for about 10 years now.
