KAL’s cartoons are always fun to see! They tend to “get it” but I might be biased as I often see the world the same as the messages in the cartoons.

Russian history is a succession of tsars and ridiculous militarism. And of military defeats. Of economic backwardness, of famines and blunders. Of deportees, purged, exiled. Of absurd arbitrariness. Of uncontrolled police. Of corruption and waste. They are the closest thing to a horde of Mongols.

Well, isn’t bear is a cute creature?

“The policy and practice of the Russian Government has always been to push forward its encroachments as fast and as far as the apathy or want of firmness of other Governments would allow it to go, but always to stop and retire when it met with decided resistance and then to wait for the next favorable opportunity.” – Lord Palmerston, 1855, British PM and foreign secretary, during the Crimean War. He formulated British foreign policy during the height of the empire.

Russia’s economy was collapsed when they were steamrolling Europe during WWII?

Wouldn’t that be Russia in the 2010s, 5 years ago.

I’m guessing this comic was made in the 2010s.
Only this time if they get that economy unsanctioned, the fall they had in the war will be undone way sooner.

This cartoon is so well made… It’s so well made that I feel sorry for the bear when it’s sad. (it looks so cute, except when it’s not)

Can there be a similar comic about the United States? Ah yeah, of course not, I forgot that the dominant narrative is to present Russia as some evil animals that always only do terrible things but the US as some beacon of liberty, and even when they do the EXACT SAME thing as Russia does, it’s just a small blunder that’s not what “real America” is about. Yeah.

Russia didn’t exist in the 40s through 90s

Interesting that this is 8 unique panels instead of 4 unique panels duplicated

Bruh, I won’t talk about periods presented here besides 40s, cause my knowledge is limited, BUT DOES ANYONE REMEMBER WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING IN 40S ?
DOES ANYONE REMEMBER HERE A WW2?
The Soviet army took the biggest hit, and over 27 million people of the Soviet Union DIED, FROM WHICH ROUGHLY 13 MILLION RUSSIAN CASUALTIES! THE Eastern front WAS THE BLOODIEST FRONT!
Stalingrad battle which took a million lives, the Stalingrad blockade which took dozens of thousands of lives , the Kursk battle and many more to mention. Why doesn’t author even barely consider AT LEAST this aspect?
Back then Russian and other countries of the Soviet Union were literally FIGHTING FOR THE EXISTENCE!
I won’t judge the rest, aside from mentioning that in the 70s the relationship between USSR and US began stabilizing in some manner and USSR wasn’t as active as in 60s
