It’s honestly baffling how bright these new lights are. I do be literally blinded on the road at night. Out of complete frustration with this I actually have started to give the fingers to these drivers 😂

It’s not so bad on N roads or on the Motorway because they are gone past you fairly quickly but in town when they are stopped at junctions or even just parked up and for some reason have their headlights on it can be difficult to see anything else.

I think the problem is that with basically every car post like 2015 being an SUV is that they’re higher. In my Ford Focus my windscreen is level with the headlights of all the SUVs so they shine directly into my face every time.

Story from across the water about people now driving less often at night because of these lights.

Phew, I thought r/Ireland was going to go a full day without a post about headlights….

Are the people using them, any brighter though ?

I got a cheap pair of night time driving ‘sunglasses’ (but yellow), and they really do seem to help.

Everyone also had the bright idea of buying an SUV or just a jacked up hatchback equivalent so their lights are at eye level for anyone who drives a normal car. I hate it.

My brother got a brand new Suzuki Swift. Nice car. They come with these bright lights. No need as it’s a small car. He said he’s driving along minding his own business and occasionally people flash him thinking he’s got his full beams on.

This problem started years ago when people decided the standard bulbs are not bright enough and put in non standard, I had a mate who did this and fuck me the dim looked like full all the time
Yet he couldn’t see even at that, soon after he got glasses but still kept the bulbs in the car
