      Fuck yeah.

As an American, I can’t ask you to do us a solid and give a bit of the old NATO regime change, but I *can* as you to deny this regime its tools.

      >It is no longer safe to move our governments and societies to US clouds

What’s the alternative to AWS, GCP or Azure? It’s worse to go with Alibaba, Huawei or Tencent

Based. I guess you have no choice but to start your own servers using hardware and software either developed in the US or China, both of which will exploit you because Europe refuses to make or produce anything anymore.

    4. For the companies doing their business across the globe, there is not a good alternative other than more known US cloud providers. For governments, they don’t need public cloud but secure onprem servers.

We need more data centers in Europe. Would be great if business could invest in southern EU countries with lower energy prices. The south of the EU is used for tourism and retirement homes for the north.

The problem is, OVH is our biggest European Cloud provider but is nowhere near the same quality of service in its Public Cloud offer.

This is something is still don’t understand. We ‘know’ since Snowden that every single IT provider in the US has an optical fiber going straight to the NSA, the Justice department and CIA. We later paid the price when European companies were basically blackmailed and ransacked using their own data.

10 years later, why is everyone in Europe going “ah yeah that’s fine, we’ve got a contract with AWS, our data is in Frankfurt”. “Yeah we share our clients data with OpenAI, but that’s a European Azure server man”…

As an American whose grandparents came here from Sweden… this is f’d up how true it is. I do not and would not trust American companies or the government as a European. It seems like the US is always one election away from a completely different type of system. It’s super unstable and it sucks to be an American right now.
