      I hate Trump and his neo isolationism but as a Greek, I don’t trust at all this right-wing populist, pro-Putin, pro-Trump newspaper. Probably they have this cover to hit the PM, Mitsotakis (they support a different fraction of the conservative governing party which ruled in the past and far-right parties as well).

      How is possible that one man has so much power that he can decide all alone where or where not to shut down military bases. I mean are there any other people there or they just nod their heads whatever this psycho does? Why is everyone acting like everything is fine with his behaviour? Is there a democracy there, do they need to move these decisions trough a congress or something?

      I don’t even know this newspaper so I will take this with a grain of salt

      But even if it is true, this base is not to defend us, it is to give operational range to US forces. Same with the one at Crete.

      Why should Americans abandon their interests in the area?

      While I despise the direction the US has taken and Im making efforts to transition to only European things, if the US base in my town closes down my mom will be out of a job, so this scares me.

      These bases are not for the benefit of the EU or its allies. These are for the benefit of the USA and solely the USA. Get them gone.

      From this base troops deployment to Kosovo in Balkans was happening and also it was used for delivery of war equipment to Ukraine.

      It’s like the beginning of complete shouting down of all bases however not sure if it will happen soon.

      This is a non reliable, right wing newspaper. They spread pro Russia, anti government propaganda 24/7. Supposedly Trump ordered the closure of Alexandroupoli, “pulling the rug” from under the government’s (formerly pro-US), pro Ukraine policy, citing an “unnamed source”. Greece has a few newspapers making wildly in accurate claims. If there was any truth to the news it would be all over credible newspapers, such as “Kathimerini”, and “To Vima”.

      Nothing to see here, move along.
