Good for him, though sadly Trump given his actions so far won’t even register it into whatever deal he’s cooking. There’s no level of truth that’s going to overcome his blatant treachery.
US is not needed for negotiations. Everyone sent by them to negotiate is compromised and incompetent. You do not want them negotiating on your behalf.

Why the west is even doing those peace talk? Won’t Ukraine security be threatened as long as Russia is occupying part of it. If people want free and democratic elections in Ukraine, they need to help it free all occupied territories so all Ukrainians can vote.
