      I don’t know a lot about the political situation in France. I understand, that Macron is not the most popular guy there. But as a dane, I am so proud and happy to see the effort and cooperation between EU in these times

      I mean tbh its kinda even more embarrasing for the average European treating the French like shit is because the reason the French have such a bad rep is almost entirely Britain (and the USA parroting) anti French propaganda post WW2, Stuff like the French are weak and surrender is from Britain.That retoric from the two most significant soft powers of the last 30 years has largely informed how you guys perceieve France.

      France should not stand alone in this. Partly because they will be the target of covert campaigns to corrupt them, like brexit, like Hungary.

      Macron has really shown something here. He’s used his personal strengths, knowing his domestic situation is difficult and he doesn’t have much time left as president to set up the stable(ish) uk government in the best possible way before Starmer visits Washington on Thursday. He knows we (UK) have to take a leadership position whether we want to or not. Things are moving faster and faster now, in a matter of weeks or even days things could move faster still.

      Not good enough. Europe wake up! What happens if the far right wins the next french election? This is very likely to happen. Marine le Pen is pro Russia.
      We need all the big countries to be equipped with nukes: Poland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Romania.
      Another alternative is to have a real european army, independant from the member states, which would have its own nukes spread across Europe.
      It is time to get serious!!!

      As an Italian, we often mock the french for their lack of bidets and generally for the usual neighbouring nations banter, but one thing can be said about the french people: if the richest frenchman would essentially buy an election and then get himself appointed in a role that jeopardizes countless jobs, while being an obnoxious arrogant asshole on top of it, the smoke of cars and stores burning in the center of Paris would be seen from space.

      The citizens hold all the power and they are never shy to remind politicians about it.

      The Problerm with France offer is that all have to pay but only France has the trigger. And their preventative strike nuclear doctrine is crazy in my point of view. I would rather have a joint command structure with a more relaxed doctrine.

      If you all stopped to act like fickle weather vanes for one moment, it would be great.

      2008: “oh god the French were right to intervene in the economy”. 2010: “ahah french surrender”. 2011: “poor french still using nuclear!” 2021: “ahah French submarine deal unilaterally cancelled because the US said so, look how salty they are in Paris”. 2025: “they were definitely right with nuclear!” “they were definitely right the US shouldn’t treat us all like vassals!”

      I’ve seen enough to know you’ll do nothing, vote nothing, understand nothing, and then go back to thinking like the anglo propaganda wants you to think: “France smells, France bad, France inferior”. I’d really like you all to prove me wrong. But honestly, will you?
