      Nope.

It seems they’re close to get free from that man, as some Hungarians wrote here recently.

    2. BadOdd1861 on

No. Because kicking Hungary out would only leave the country at the mercy of Orban, the Americans, the Chinese and Russians. The solution to the Orban problem is to sideline Hungary and exclude it from the decision making processes until his regime falls and he is replaced by more competent and indeed sane leadership.

    3. azery2001 on

the solution is to freeze hungary out of decision making processes until there is a new government.

There is no procedure to expel a member-state from the EU. To add one, you need unanimity.

    5. EstablishmentNice377 on

There is no procedure in the treaties that allows any institution to kick a member out of the EU.

    6. I feel the more pertinent question is, is it time for the Hungarians to kick Orbán out of Hungary? And the answer is yes, yes it is.

    7. furgerokalabak on

Not anymore. Things have changed in Hungarian domestic politics in the last year. If the elections were held now, Orbán would suffer a heavy defeat at the hands of pro-EU and pro-NATO forces and would face a heavy impeachment. Unfortunately, the next elections will be in May 2026.

And since Orbán has total control over the laws, the constitution, the economy and the media, they can change the rules at any time to bias the rules even more in their favour.

    8. theSentry95 on

Not before a regular election, let Hungarians demonstrate their love for the Union.

    9. Rogthgar on

No, its to play the long game and simply wait for Orban to not be the leader any more. And since having a working democracy is part of membership requirements, it will happen eventually.

    10. No. There’s need to have systems in place to keep such extremists in check, and not allow them to block the entire Union with their politics of division and hatred. And if one day they decide to leave, so be it.

    11. ProductGuy48 on

I am totally against booting Hungary out. Firstly because they will solve the problem at the next election and secondly because it would de facto put Romania and Bulgaria outside Schengen again (except for travel to Greece).

    12. positivcheg on

EU should have spotted some problems with Orban long time ago.

    13. InflationNo1538 on

Kick that mf out of european union. always complaning.

    14. salemcilla on

It wouldn’t be fair for all the Hungarians, let’em speak in the urns

    15. Nope, not going to happen… elections in Germany have sent a clear signal, I would argue.

    16. CommanderCooler on

He does realize how much his country would be screwed without all that sweet, sweet EU funding, right? Maybe he should be reminded of that again.

    17. ClearHeart_FullLiver on

He’ll be gone next year and good riddance the man has been a disaster for Hungary and Europe.

    18. ProfBerthaJeffers on

Europ might well be one of the only counter powers that prevent Hungary to fall into inflation conflicts and chaos.
      The EU will survive Orban.

    19. April 2026. Hope this the month that Europe will get rid of him once and for all.

    20. Julian679 on

Think it would be sufficient to suspend voting rights and suspend some funds as needed. He abused the system too long.
Then his mandate will expire and everything could work out

    21. BulldogMoose on

I mean… I’m not sure Europe has ever been more united.

    22. I just fear that they wont be there when Nato countries are called to fight

    23. ArnoLamme on

I don’t know what’s better for the EU right now? They obviouslydo not share or practice the EU values and they constantly side with Putin. But keeping them in could also function as a leash. If they are kicked from the EU, it will drive them closer to Russia, maybe allowing Russia to establish a military presence smack-dab in the middle of the EU.

    24. if he has 2/3 of the vote, maybe the Hungarians want it this way..
that is, including the billions of free EU money of course..

    25. Liquidamber_ on

Little Vici would probably like that, so that he can lead the Hungarians into the dark and increase his fortune at the expense of the country.

No, the wanker should be pressed up against the wall and reprimanded again and again. What would a schoolyard bully look like if everyone ganged up on him?

      Simply ridiculous.

    26. Few-Welcome7588 on

That what he wants, his using same tactic as Putin. He tries to bait the EU, and hen sell the idea to the people “ look wundoaent whant us we have to side with Russia “ old as fuck tactics like him.

    27. Big-Phrase2948 on

He will be remebered as just another traitor in history . What an honour .

    28. franzderbernd on

Orban and with him Hungary is an example of something the EU needs to fix in the near future. Let’s hope Hungary will vote Orban out soon. Then the EU needs to change the rules. EU member states must follow the Copenhagen criteria. If a country changes its system in a way that it breaks these rules, an automatic exclusion procedure has to start. If the country doesn’t change back it needs to leave in the next 2 years.

    29. CheesyPotatoSack on

Ok so speed things along and take Hungary out now if Orban really thinks that. He shouldn’t be fighting to stay in EU and keep collecting money

    30. MilkTiny6723 on

He’ll be out next year. Hungary dont want him. If he’s not out howerver I’m not sure Hungary will survive within the EU.
