It wasn’t a very practical proposal anyway, since most G7 states would still uphold the ICC arrest warrant for Putin. As they should!
Russia has absolutely no business in the G7.
The G7 is a forum for the most influential developed democratic countries to discuss world affairs. Russia is neither of those things.
If the G7 wants new members, they should invite Australia and South Korea.
Russia should not exist in its current form. There should be dozens of smaller states none with nukes or UN veto power.
Kick out US too and call it G6.
Don’t worry, Trump will give them his notes.

Russia, north Korea, the US or other authoritarian dictatorships have no business being part of any global entity.

Russia should not be part of the G7 because its recent actions, such as the annexation of Crimea and interference in other countries, go against the values of the group, which is based on democracy, human rights and peaceful cooperation. Moreover, its domestic policies, such as the repression of the opposition, do not reflect the standards of Western democracies…and then they are butchers.
