      Actually there is a difference between free speech and freedom of opinion.

      While in US you are allowed to say anything.. the most european countries only have the freedom to have your own opinion, but if something you say harms someone you often commit a criminal offence.

      JD Vance also complained about the perceived state of free speech in Germany. Yes, rules differ and there are restrictions, because Article 1 of post-war German Basic Law, “Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect it shall be the duty of all state authority.” was written with the WW2 deaths of millions freshly etched into everybody’s minds.
