      “I just remember it was a white car, I don’t know what kind of car it was. Three lads in it and one of them wound down the passenger window and said something to me and I just sort of said ‘hello’ or whatever back.

      “And next of all from behind, the driver and then the guy in the back jumped out and kicked me to the ground and punched me and kicked me in the head about five or six times.”

      Mr Courtney said while he was on the ground, he felt “a boot to the side of my head, a boot to the back of my head and a boot right in my face”.

      Terrible, very sorry this happened to him, he seems like a nice guy. I see him walking outside his apartment often, that’s where my bus stop is, and that part of Dublin between Smithfield and Thomas St. is super dodgy. I’m surprised I haven’t been attacked myself yet.

      I was about to write something about him not being too badly hurt to miss a free publicity opportunity but then I thought this would probably just be another note taking exercise by Gardai if he hadn’t put it in the media. No one deserves that and hopefully now it will be investigated properly.

      Hope the little cunts are caught and have the book thrown at them. Bumped into Brendan a few times and he’s a lovely bloke. Shite like this shouldn’t be happening in 2025.

      Very weird they pulled up in a car. That’s not a normal random street assault.

      He was the victim of another random street assault a few years ago wasn’t he? Unlucky guy.

      I used to work with a guy 30 years ago when I was doing a manual low paid job that would brag about going out gay bashing, and hippy bashing and just about anyone who wasn’t’ wearing gold sovereign rings and a shell suit, which was all the rage at the time.

      Low life scum bags are still around I see.

      Cowards were waiting around looking to attack someone on their own.

      Happened to me on Pearse St, face was black/blue and severely cut up. Right in front of a Tesco with cctv and nothing came of it
