This man’s fighting spirit will be studied in every history book.

    2. HighDeltaVee on

That needed to be said, and it was well said. He’s staying polite and diplomatic, refusing to be bullied, but not burning bridges.

However, with Trump it’s going to fall on deaf ears. Yesterday’s shameful events were scripted and fully intended, and the current US leadership has zero intention of supporting Ukraine or using them as anything other than a personal piggy bank if they can.

    3. Grafdelver on

There is no point in discussing that Zelensky is a statesman and that Trump and Vance are schoolyard bullies, because it is so damn obvious to anyone with a brain and some real life experience.

The problem is that the overwhelming majority of American voters would fail a comprehensive reading test on these tweets. Or even on one of them. Or any piece of text that is longer than a ten-word sentence for that matter. The intellectual laziness and weakness of the American mind opened the door to this neo-feudalist shitshow.

    4. Machicomon on

The people who most need to read and understand this, the trump supporters, don’t have the willingness, patience or attention span necessary to make it past the first paragraph.

    5. ragnarockette on

I hate that he had to do this. Trump is a traitor and a coward.

    6. the-beef-builder on

I like how he quotes Reagan. He knows the demographic he needs to appeal to.

    7. LittleSchwein1234 on

It’s a good thing that he’s quoting Reagan. May stir a string with the old-school conservatives in Congress.

Besides that, a very good statement, reaffirming how crucial the US-Ukraine partnership is for world peace, how he wants peace but needs security guarantees and that he’s not angry at what happened yesterday. These are important signals that may get Trump to slowly reverse his position (without admitting it, ofc).

Zelenskyy has shown in these past few hours that he’s a true statesman who will be remembered across Europe for a long time, next to the likes of Winston Churchill and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

    8. Scuipici on

He tries hard but I think he will let go eventually, Trump will not help ukraine, europe or anyone else.

    9. SaraAnnabelle on

In actually glad he’s doing this. It makes him look like a great diplomatic leader who cares for his people. And no one can say that he isn’t trying, he really is.

    10. East-Conclusion-3192 on

Russians killing children, bombing innocent elderly, spreading hate among fellow Europeans via social media, etc. only for their imperial ambitions is evil. What has Europe become that we are so slow and weak to stand up to clear EVIL state on our borders? Russia is a militarised state with its war machine running on 100%.. there’s no time to wait to invest heavily into our defence and Ukraine. Yet we still barely do 2% on defence as a continent. Shameful, action is necessary immediately for our safety and morality of standing up for the attacked

    11. No_Way_6258 on

So sad 3 years after the war started, the European countries are still following the Americans’ lead. Felt like it doesn’t matter what the outcome will be for a lot of them.

These are quotes of his Interview on Fox News yesterday evening after visiting Trump.

Gosh a leader using complete sentences without name calling and bragging.

Krasnov decided to stand with Russia and against democracy. Now the democratic world must fight back.

    16. notfromrotterdam on

There was no deal for Ukraine. This was a deal for Putin and Trump. With ZERO guarantees for Ukraine.

And still they tried to force and bully him into it.

    17. 227CAVOK on

Where are the reasonable republicans in all of this?  The John McCain types?

    18. Fearless-Position-56 on

if Eu was stronger, he would not have to “apologies” so quickly. The orange guy is not a stupid and he will claim this was his success. Potentially, he could make the deal even tighter now that Zelensky had to give up…

    19. Organic-Category-674 on

It’s quite simple. For nothing proposed nothing to offer

    20. Grand-Glove-9985 on

Trump’s USA has sided with Russia, becoming an ally against Europe, EU which buys goods from China, and the USA wants to stop this, which is impossible realistically speaking, that’s why the USA will use Russia to militarily destroy the EU financial power, and at the right time US troops in the EU will bug out, leaving the EU to face Putin, a terrorist with his finger on his nuclear explosive belt.

    21. nizoubizou10 on

Now, let’s see how the orange man spins this story to his favor.

    22. LipstickandLies on

Zelenskyy saying he’s thankful is only going to make maga supporters feel that trump and Vance were right about him not saying thank you or whatever they were whining about

    23. TheTanadu on

He shouldn’t sign this mineral deal. Not in terms of peace. US and EU should get payback for aid from Russia. You tax the oppressor, not the victim. Deals for minerals (and sharing income from it with Ukraine) could be as opening to discussions AFTER war with all nations involved in this, not during war. F*ck Trump.

    24. BiZender on

He want what US will never give under trump. Trump was quite clear, what you have is not worth direct confrontation with the orcs, specially when Trump wants to be bestie with Orc master murder.

of course zelensky knows the difference he just cant say it

    27. AbuKuchak on

Why the f**k would he actually humor this shakedown attempt by signing away his country’s mineral wealth?

    28. AwesomeMcDeadly on

      The man’s a class act!
Even in the face of what was clearly a premeditated opportunity of grand standing and outright bully tactics by Trump & Vance yesterday, he kept his cool.
      Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦

    29. It was wild to listen to the entire thing. Especially the moments where he was claiming to have given the Ukraine javelins and empowered them to fight and stand against the Russians. That he made them strong. He wasn’t in power up until 2 months ago. What the hell was he talking about.

I am genuinely curious what he was trying to project himself as while saying all this?

    30. Ok-Poetry3799 on

Its unfortunate but the only thing Trump’s base will keep repeating is America first. It’s easy for them to sit at home and complain about their tax dollars because it’s not their people being killed and they’ll forget about it by bedtime, there’s no empathy from his base.

    31. shotcaller77 on

In a not too distant future I think the US will start supporting Russia.

    32. FissileAlarm on

Zelensky is so incredibly strong in diplomacy. The way he handled things in the white house, the way he was attacked there and still kept his cool and tries to keep the US’s support, he really is a master in diplomacy. Ukraine couldn’t have had a better president. At the same time it’s so sad that the US has elected a man with a complete lack of diplomacy skills, and a greed that is beyond imagination. People in his own country and in other countries worldwide suffer because of him. And what for? For enriching the people that already don’t know what to do with their ridiculous amounts of excess money? I don’t understand this anymore.

    33. Basement_Chicken on

Thanking Trump is just like thanking Putin. Trump has done NOTHING to help Ukraine, neither in his first nor his new term. On the contrary, he stopped Democratic Congress-appropriated military aid with Javelins, demanding personal “favors”, and just called Zelensky a “dictator” who “started the war”. Now he has stopped all aid to Ukraine and is talking about removing Russian sanctions. WTF he should be thanked for???

    34. Wonderful_Device312 on

I wish we could all just stop using Twitter. It’s embarrassing that international diplomacy is being conducted like this. Less embarrassing than what happened at the white house but still.

Coward, redditors are hating against MAGA supporters for boot licking Trump, but when Zelensky is doing the same he is a “chad”.

    40. No-Acanthisitta4117 on

As an American, I will do everything I can to stand with Ukraine. Trump is in the wrong entirely and I wish my fellow Americans that voted for him ( I did not vote for him) can see that he is in the wrong and pressure him to make the right choice. (Also I truly believe that he probably is a Russian asset and that makes me sick to even consider)

#Zelenskyy Seeks European Support After Tense Trump Showdown

In a demonstration of diplomatic competence, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in London on Saturday, looking to steady diplomatic ties with European allies following a bruising encounter with US President Donald Trump in Washington. The meeting in the Oval Office, which was expected to reinforce Ukraine’s appeal for support, instead descended into a humiliating rebuke. Trump, alongside Vice President JD Vance, accused Zelenskyy of ingratitude, scrapped a planned press conference, and halted the signing of a crucial minerals deal.

**In the wake of this tense exchange, Zelenskyy took to social media to express gratitude for American aid while making it clear that Ukraine still requires firm security guarantees to achieve lasting peace.** He warned that a simple ceasefire would not suffice, citing Russia’s repeated violations of previous truces. Striking a conciliatory yet resolute tone, he emphasised the importance of Trump’s backing, saying that while the former president is keen to end the war, no one wants peace more than Ukraine itself.

The dramatic confrontation sent ripples across Europe, with leaders from France, Germany, and Poland swiftly reaffirming their support for Kyiv. European concerns over Trump’s perceived alignment with Vladimir Putin only deepened following his dismissive remarks in the White House, where he reportedly ended the meeting with a reality quip.

Zelenskyy, undeterred, pressed on with his diplomatic efforts, heading to Downing Street for talks with Prime Minister Keir Starmer ahead of an emergency summit with European leaders. Starmer is set to host discussions focused on bolstering security assurances for Ukraine, a move seen as a direct response to the turbulence in Washington. With European leaders closing ranks behind him, Zelenskyy hopes to ensure that, whatever the signals from the US, Ukraine’s allies on the continent remain firmly by its side.
