Blue: European Union member states party to the EEA agreement (all 27 EU members now).

Green: EFTA member states party to the EEA agreement (Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein).

Light blue: Former EU member state which was a party to the EEA agreement before withdrawing (United Kingdom).

Red: Signatory that has not ratified (Switzerland).

If I were Putin or Trump I would not like this big blue thing.
These big blob of European people keep discussing and barely take any decision ever.
But that’s exactly what makes it both frustrating and fascinating—it keeps moving forward, even if at a snail’s pace.

    3. Remember when the Leave campaigners in the UK were saying that the EU would fall apart when the UK leaves? Does not seem to be happening anytime soon.

Goddamnit… I was following this for years. Last time I checked was in december and it totally flew under my radar the last few weeks because of the shit we have to deal with…

No. Croatia became dejure part of eea in 2013 on July the first when joined the EU.

It adopted euro and joined schengen zone in 2023 after ten years.

That’s good to hear, I’ve visited a couple of times and know a good few Croats here in Ireland. Great people salt of the earth.

This doesn’t mean anything. Croatia was a de facto member of the EEA since joining the EU in 2013.

It just means that all the members ratified the accession agreement by now.
