      1) They’re providing loans, not equipment.

      2) It won’t mean much if Ukraine can’t get the manpower or equipment to purchase military arms.

Hopefully he uses as much of that money as possible to purchase European arms over American ones

Lets keep the momentum fellow Europeans. Ukraine needs to win.

On a positive note, we’ll be able to say Europe did it, not the USA.

    4. Should be noted that this money seems to be made up of seized Russian assets lmao

Russian money being used to fight Russia haha

Europe needs to step up with a large defense budget and ramp up its arms industry. That would even create jobs and help the economy in the long term while putting Russia back in its place. The US can no longer be relied on.

more meaningless ‘pledges’ that never materialize? Why even bother with this nonesense.

Does Europe have the defense industrial base to turn this into anything other than boxes of cash?

I can’t believe some people on here are actually having a go at the UK for not providing more when it is already one of the largest donors to Ukraine. I suppose we should have thrown Zelenskyy out of Downing Street and told him to come back when he’s “serious about peace” instead. Unbelievable the nerve of some people.

Genuine question, why the Ukraine needs all this money, considering they also received weapons?

Edit: Thank you for your responses. I’ve learned that much of the money was actually credits or equivalent in weapons. Moreover, during a war, the economy often struggles, so you need money for feeding the people and to restore damaged infrastructure.

About time. US sends double what all of Europe combined, with half the population. Step it up!

Is this in addition to the 4.5 that was announced a couple of weeks ago? Or is it the first tranche of it?

Are this 2.6 billions in addition to what was already planned? Because it was an odly similar number.

Edit: The article isn’t clear, it just says it’s a loan. Checking with UK gov website, it seems they had planned a 2.26 billion loan on October 2024 as a EU directive, in proportion.

As of military aid (ammunitions, helmets and so) UK planned to deliver 3 billion worth of stuff to Ukraine. Making it a 4.5 Billion for 2025, since the loan is going to get paid between 2025 and 2026. If this 2.6 billion are an addition (it seems strange) it would mean a +50% on the expenditure. To me it seems more likely that they decided to increase the load from 2.26 billion to 2.6 billion. Hence less than 400 milions. If someone knows more, plese let me know.

Time to conscript Europeans to fight on behalf of Ukraine.

On a tangential note: I hate when news sites use such obviously AI images. If you are going to, at least put a bit of effort in hiding it.

    16. ReaperManX15 on

Wow, a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of what the US has provided.
Ukraine must mean a lot to them.
