      Instead of doom mongering like this, I hope the Europeans understand it’s easily within our means to contain Russia, if we act with some rudimentary decisiveness.

      The European allies have three times the population and ten times the economic might of Russia. This is not a hard thing.

      To clarify. The ability for a president to withdraw from NATO changed under Biden. It now requires 2/3 of the US Senates approval or statuary authorization. Neither will ever happen.

      Ukraine alone has caused him 800,000 deaths, think Poles, Finns, Romanians, Czechs, Germans, Bulgarians not to mention the French and British. Putin would be better off if NATO stayed up otherwise he would have to launch an attack which would cost him so many young males that his demographics would no longer recover, I would point out that for those 25 million Russian deaths during WW2 Russia still has a male birth rate gap.

      Hatred is a powerful weapon and in Europe there is plenty of it towards the Russians

      He said in one of his speech before his “three days military opereration” that all the republics that left the Russian Empire and latter the USSR are illigitimate. So no he won’t stop escalating.

      Dunno what this fearmongering is all about, Russia is on the verge of collapse fighting one single front, we could easily smush the living shit out of them from multiple directions and grab some land while we’re at it. Just gotta wait for them to start first.

      If the US quits NATO, they may well invade Canada. That may be the larger motivation behind this and they don’t expect NATO to step up for Canada.

      Well . Before the war. The entire plot of the Russians were to limit US ever closer to moscow. To them NATO was just another word for USA.

      That is why we should increase presence and influence as Europe. Work together with Ukraine to establish a defense industry. They have developed a lot of drone know how, combined with German, Finnish, French, Swedish and the UK in conventional know how, we as Europe should be able to bring forth a great alternative for the US weapon industry.

      HOWEVER, none of you are considering the possibility that the US joins Russia’s side (which is looking more plausible by the day)

      The whole anti NATO sentiment some people have, who also bring up peace, just reveals they have no fundamental understanding about any of this.

      Imagine telling someone that in order to protect themselves from the bear, they need to leave the group and travel through the forest alone, so as not to provoke the bear. Sheer fucking stupidity.

      Europe needs to completely wean itself off U.S in every conceivable way, especially information based services like social media, amazon, netflix etc. . . there is absolutely zero reason Europe cant develop its own versions and build bigger better relationships with Ausralasia, China, South Americ, Canada etc. .

      Soon we will truly see which narrative was the right one. If the U.S. pulls out of this war and potentially out of NATO, Russia won’t have the excuse of the U.S. using NATO as a means of containing Russia. If the U.S. is gone and Russia continues to press onward in Ukraine even the biggest NATO critics can’t say Russia is not waging an imperial war.

      Europe may not like it, but this would be great for European unity.

      European NATO has depended on the US for decades, and Trump is clearly highlighting that frailty. He won’t like what comes next, but Europe needs to become independent of US protection
